FOR KIDS:
To Tell the Truth: I discuss what nonfiction is and how I write true stories, from the first glimmer of an idea to research and revisions. Together we'll brainstorm an interesting slant to any subject, and I'll share my experiences with "fear factor research."Tall Tales from the Erie Canal: This talk is especially appropriate for blending the NY State Language Arts and Social Studies curricula. After sharing the folktale of Joshua the Giant Frog, we'll craft a tall tale of our own. A Writer's Life: What does a writer do all day? Where do they get their ideas? How does an idea become a book? Who draws the pictures? Learn how a picture book like SNOW DANCE is put together. This program is especially appropriate for younger grades.The Forensic Anthropologist's Top 10 List: Based on the book, FORENSIC ANTHROPOLOGY, this slide presentation leads students through the 10 questions that forensic anthropologists must answer when examining human remains.
